Thathri, Feb 01 (KNO): Even after passing of more than ten years the road is yet to be sanctioned for Kota Khrangal village of Doda district, thereby making them suffer a lot for want of road connectivity.
Locals told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the PMGSY department had carried out a survey of the areas for the construction of road, however, approval for the same is still awaited.
Nehaan Afzal Magray, a social activist said of the area said that many villages have sought the construction of road since 1947 but till no sanction has been given for the construction of the road.
He said that the villagers have to walk for more than 2-3 hours on foot to reach the main road.
“We have many times raised the issue with the concerned authorities but to no avail as the village is still without road connectivity,” he said.
The villagers said that Kota Top in Kota Khrangal is a scenic landscape which has a lot of tourism potential but due to lack of road connectivity, the area has been ignored.
DDC member Mohammad Iqbal Kohli said the demand for this road was submitted many years ago and PMGSY had done survey on it but this road has not been sanctioned yet.
He said that in the absence of the road connectivity, the villagers especially patients and elderly people have to suffer a lot.
Meanwhile, an official of the PMGSY department said that the proposal for the construction of the road has already been submitted to the higher authorities, however, sanction for the same is still awaited.
He said that the proposal was submitted under the left out habitations quota but the there has been no response from the higher authorities.
Meanwhile, the locals urged the LG administration to look into the matter and help resolve their genuine grievances—(KNO)
